How To Keep Your Kids Well Fed This School Year

Posted on: 14 August 2018

If you have little kids, then you are probably preparing for the school year that's just around the corner. And with all of the excitement of back-to-school shopping, you also have to think about things like school lunches. Because your kids are gone at school for the majority of the day, you need to do your best to make sure that they are eating well and that they get all of the nutrients they need. Not only is eating well going to get them through the day without feeling hungry, but it should help them stay focused as well. But rather than packing sugar-filled foods like yogurt tubes, chips, and fruit snacks, make sure that you pack their lunches full of nutritious foods instead. Read on to learn more.

Organic Bread

Sandwiches are a lunchtime staple; they always have been and it seems like they always will be. Rather than buying some bread that's processed and filled with sugar, go to an organic bread distribution center and get some organic bread. Organic whole-wheat bread in particular contains less sugar than regular wheat bread, and it usually has fewer ingredients in it as well which makes it a better choice.

Organic Peanut Butter

You may think that all peanut butter is healthy and created equal, but you would be wrong. Most of the peanut butter that you grew up on probably contains a lot of sugar and other additives which makes it more of a dessert food than anything. Make sure that you buy organic peanut butter that only has peanuts and maybe some salt in it. Because organic peanut butter is healthy, you can add it on top of your organic bread to make the perfect protein-filled sandwich for your kids.

Veggie Sticks

When you think about it, it's probably pretty hard to get your little kids to eat vegetables. One creative and good way to get your kids to eat their vegetables is by making it fun. For instance, try cutting carrots, celery, and cucumber into sticks and package them in a plastic container. Then, add a little dipping sauce on the side like some ranch dressing.

These are just a few easy and healthy ways that you can use to send your kids to school with a good lunch every day. The number one thing that you want to consider is packing them food that you know they will enjoy.

Cooking Without A Stove

I absolutely love to cook no matter where I am, but it isn't always easy to take care of food prep when you are far from home. I started focusing on going through and overhauling my portable cooking routine, and I even invested in a camp stove and some fun preparation tables. Within a few months, we were cooking outside and really loving some excellent food under the stars. This blog is here to help other people to know how to cook without any trouble, even if they don't have easy access to a traditional stove and oven. Read more about cooking outdoors here!
